The story is told that Catherine took her brother Jermiah Franklin (Frank) Gatlin to live with her when she married. Catherine did not want to leave Frank with her step mother because the woman punished him harsly for wetting the bed. She would not allow him to sleep in a bed, she made him a pallet by stiching some straw into an old potato sack. He had to remove the sack from the house every morning and hang it over the fence at night he brougth it back in. Catherine took him to the Doctor's soon after he came to live with her, an infection was treated he stoped wetting the bed.
